Hey website developers :), I hope the first post of the step by step series was easy. Here’s the follow up to that. By now you have a hosting account, domain name and login details to access it.
Step 1
Login to your WordPress backend- Go to your WordPress admin link to access you dashboard, the admin link typically looks like this – www.exaple.com/wp-admin. After you have logged in, you should be viewing the dashboard, see the 1st edition of this series.
Step 2
Know the admin panel menu items –
Dashboard – this is where you can view the summary of the back end.
Posts – this is where you post articles that will appear on the blog page
Media – this is where you can upload images, audio, video and other files or to access them
Pages – you create pages here, ‘comments’ is next, you can moderate comments posted on your blog
Appearance – this is where you select or upload themes, customize the website look and create a menu list for your website
Plugins – is next, here you can upload plugins like contact forms, page builders and other addons to help you create a functional website.
Users – is where you can access your profile or other users that subscribe
Tools – you can access some site functions here
Setting – as the name implies…
Step 3
Now lets change the title of your website. Click Settings > General. Change the site title and tagline, note that this will be visible at the tab area of your website and on internet search pages. Add email address (usually same as admin), check membership – anyone can register if you want users to be registered.
Step 4
After that is done, go to appearance > themes, let’s install a theme. Click add new (somewhere at the top left – see image below). WordPress has a collection of free themes you can use, now select your preferred, you can preview it before selecting 
Hover any of the theme to preview or install. Note that you can also purchase premium WordPress themes from sites like elegantthemes, themeforest, medialoot (free themes), studiopress, If you purchase a premium theme, download the file, it will come with instructions/documentation. Upload the file in the add themes area by selecting the upload theme button by the top left.
Step 5
Now your theme is installed, preview it to see how it look, needs some work right! I usually use a page builder to create content on the website pages, it makes the process faster. The most popular WordPress page builder is visual composer, it costs $33, but you can use Page builder by SiteOrigin, it’s a free plugin. See next step to install this plugin.
Step 6
Go to plugin > add new, type Page Builder by SiteOrigin in the search box and search, when it pops up install it.
